What's the future for Area C?

Area C OCP Update Engagement Survey #2

Help create the Plan for Area "C"

The Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District (ACRD) is updating the South Long Beach (Area "C") Official Community Plan (OCP). An OCP is a policy document that establishes community direction over a short- (five year) and long-term (10-20 year) period while addressing topics such as land use, housing, growth, and the environment. For example, housing policies would outline the types of residential density supported in the OCP, informing the service standards needed for community members.

Planning staff reference the OCP while reviewing development applications, to ensure any proposals are consistent with the plan. The ACRD Board of Directors may require the applicant to allocate parkland or adjust their proposal according to the OCP.

Input from this survey will be used to inform the policy direction for Area "C". The survey will be open until the end of the day on September 2, 2025. Paper copies are available at the ACRD office, 3008 Fifth Avenue, Port Alberni. Please note that you do not need to answer all the survey questions, and any input is greatly appreciated. Additionally, all survey responses are anonymous unless you are logged into a Let’s Connect account. Survey results will be aggregated in a non-identifying manner.

Key topics from community engagement include:

  • Reconciliation
  • Parks & Recreation
  • Community Resilience, Environment & Agriculture
  • Growth Management
  • Housing & Affordability
  • Employment & Economy
  • Transportation
