Cherry Creek Community Recreation Commission Grant Service Establishment Referendum


Qualified Electors within Electoral Area "F" (Cherry Creek) will be asked to vote on the following assent vote (referendum) question in conjunction with the 2026 general local elections:

Are you in favour of the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District adopting Bylaw No. E1069, “Cherry Creek Community Recreation Commission Grant Service Establishing Bylaw, 2026” for the purpose of creating a new service in Electoral Area "F" 'Cherry Creek', that will allow an annual financial contribution to the Cherry Creek Community Recreation Commission to fund the costs of operating and/or maintaining the capital infrastructure of the Cherry Creek Community Hall or a portion thereof, at a maximum annual tax requisition amount of $25,000, or $0.0408/$1,000 on the net taxable value of land and improvements, whichever is greater?

The ACRD Board of Directors gave three readings to Bylaw No. E1069 and the Inspector of Municipalities has provided statutory approval for the following bylaw:Cherry Creek Community Recreation Commission Grant Service Establishing Bylaw No. E1069, 2026

Background

At the request of the Cherry Creek Community Recreation Commission and the Cherry Creek Electoral Area Director, a referendum is being conducted on October 17, 2026 in conjunction with local government elections, to determine if Cherry Creek Electoral Area electors support the establishment of a Cherry Creek Community Recreation Commission Grant Service.


Scrutineers for Assent Voting

What are Scrutineers?

Scrutineers are volunteer positions that observe the assent voting procedures and scrutinize the ballot-counting process at the end of voting day. Any person entitled to vote as an elector in the assent voting jurisdiction is entitled to apply to act as scrutineers during the assent voting.
